[American Association on Mental Retardation] AAMR is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization of professionals (and others) concerned about retardation and related disabilities. Over 9,500 members in the U.S. and 55 other countries have chosen AAMR as their association.

[American Disability Association] mission is to provide a quality information network to meet the informational needs of people with diverse disabilities, their care providers and support professionals; promote disability culture and awareness in the world; provide forums for creating and refining social policy while working to bring increased quality of life and greater access to freedom to all people regardless of disability.

[Association for Retarded Citizens] [(TheArc)] Links to state and local ARC chapters; mental retardation and developmental disability sites; discussion board; legislative alerts; publications; training materials; fact sheets. Very user friendly.

[Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law] contains links to U.S. and Texas mental health advocacy organizations; publications; government agencies; other resources.

[Epilepsy Foundation of America] dedicated to providing information to people with epilepsy, their families, researchers, educators, and caregivers in order to enhance quality of life.

[Institute on Independent Living] serves self-help organizations of disabled people who work for equal opportunities, self-determination and self-respect.

[National Academy of Child Development] an international organization of parents and professionals dedicated to helping children and adults reach their full potential.

[National Center on Outcomes Research] NCOR is designed to use the national values of independence, productivity, integration, inclusion, personal responsibility, self-determination, and choice to examine the status of people with disabilities throughout their everyday lives.

[National Down Syndrome Society] NDSS was established to increase public awareness, assist families, and sponsor scientific research.

[National Easter Seal Society] Easter Seals is a nationwide network of 109 affiliate societies serving 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

[NAPAS] The National Association of Protection and Advocacy Systems, Inc. (NAPAS) is the voluntary national membership association of the P&As and CAPs and it assumes leadership in promoting and strengthening the role and performance of its members in providing quality legally based advocacy services.
